3 mL of vinegar eel culture was spun down and resuspended in 220 µL of lysis buffer from a DNA extraction kit. Sample was transferred to a 2 mL tube with 0.5 mm glass beads and processed on the Bead Ruptor 4 at speed 5 for 20 - 30 seconds.
