The Omni team has developed a novel direct-to-PCR workflow for SARS-COV-2 detection off nasopharyngeal swab samples. Based around efficient and effective viral lysis using the Bead Ruptor Elite Homogenizer, the user can homogenize 24 samples in only 30 seconds and place that lysate directly into an RT-qPCR reaction for virus detection.

The data presented in the poster, A Novel Direct-to-PCR Viral Detection Method Developed to Improve SARS-COV-2 Testing Efforts. Received 1st place at the Michigan Osteopathic Association Scientific Research Competition on October 31st, 2020. The data presented in this poster outlines our initial direct-to-PCR validation with HCoV229E, along with SARS-COV-2 sample direct-to-PCR validation. The HCoV229E direct-to-PCR method demonstrates 96.3% sensitivity and the SARS-COV-2 sample direct-to-PCR method demonstrates 96.4% sensitivity.
